mcleanscotland  are local Scots who pride ourselves on showing you the nooks & crannies other tours companies pass on by.   We can show you those hidden gems even Scots do not know!  Hamish McLean the flying pig mascot of the Denny & Dunipace Pipe Band in Scotland

Denny and Dunipace Pipe Band

OFFICIAL worldwide supporters club

HAMISH - THE ONLY SUPPORTERS CLUB MEMBER WHO HAS NO ADDRESS.  How did we find him?  You may well ask, it was while we were being forced into some drinks with McLean's over in Tennessee USA last year.  Whilst under the influence of the dreaded American beer (not the same as a good Scottish pint!) Ken and I both witnessed this wee beastie flying around our heeds.  After trying our best to swat him away, we finally gave up and chatted to him, where upon he mentioned he too would like to be Scottish and be in a club.  So we signed him up and he is: the only member with no address, as he commutes between USA and Scotland, forever flying, forever oinking, forever smiling!  He has vowed to take up the pipes and be the flying piglet representative of the supporters club.  He eats like a pig, smells like a pig, dresses like a pig and after several Guinness's looks like a pig! What's more he is a McLean. He is also trying to fly in for the Worlds, Cowal and the Maclean Gathering, away Hamish!

latest news from the supporters club members around the world

7 JULY 2006. 16.10 hours Scottish time.    och for goodness sake!  This page has only been live for half a day and already we have had notification of an official HAMISH THE FLYING PIPER SUPPORTERS CLUB sent to us!  Are you guys out there even more crazy than us!  Go get a life ... note:

"Hello all at the D&D Pipe Band Supporters Club. Or DandDPiBSoC.  We love the site and have taken wee Hamish to our hearts, we have therefore started our own appreciation society for him.  Our hastily formed crew hails from Liverpool and we love the pig!  Thanks for bringing him to us.

Yours with a grunt, Liverpool Crew"

His new nickname - given by my pal Ray in Perth (4 August 2006)  PIGASUS

It is rumoured that Hamish the flying piper will be making an appearance at the Worlds in Glasgow! He last appeared in Tennessee sharing a drink with Kenny and Paul. A note was left on a car window in Perth, stating he would be flying in to help out the band. As far as we can tell he only appears after you have enjoyed some six or more pints of heavy – then again, it’s a rumour.

2 August 2006: FROM AMERICA:

Paul has just told me of the excellent results the band had at both the European Championships and Callander (where’s that?). Well done to all the members of the band, lets hope the news is just as good from the Worlds and Cowal! The flying pig is getting known around New York State – well, in the sticks. I am working with Paul to get some things together for October when he comes over, we are trying to build up the supporters club! Well done to you all. My entries for the caption competition:
A. I know I had a drink or three, but where is the band?
B. two good looking hunks eye up a beer!
C. what do you mean beer? It was funny juice!
Kenny McLean, New York State.

3 August 2006: FROM SCOUSE LAND:
(Liverpool - for our worldwide friends)

a’right ya boozers, see ya won sumfin! Great news, sound! Lets see if yiz can win a bauble at Glasgow. The supporters club here had a drink on yer tonight, cheers. Couple of jokes for yez all …
Q. What's the difference between a bagpipe and an onion?
A. No one cries when you chop up a bagpipe.

Q. Why do bagpipers always walk when they play?
A. Moving targets are harder to hit. (a Liverpool thing!)

We have written a ditty to wee Hamish

Ode to Hamish:
Fly Hamish fly!
Up in the air like a pie.
Play the pipes loud,
Coz it’s really sound,
We hear you in the ‘Pool,
You are no one’s fool,
Bacon and pipes,
Give us sleepless nights,
Fly Hamish fly!

Liverpool Crew.
